Composition is when many elements are arranged within a frame. The rule of thirds is when you have a imaginary grid on your picture and the object in your picture should not be in the center, but it should be more towards the corner.  Patterns are a repeated shapes, colors and objects. Framing is using elements from a scene to create a frame within a frame.
